“11.5% alcohol. The wine underwent spontaneous fermentation and has an abv of just 11.5%. A hint of reduction before citrus and peach, dried herbs and a subtle leesy character. Light bodied and delicate – good fruit expression, the acidity not nearly as aggressive as you might expect and a pleasantly pithy finish. Only 520 bottles made.” Christian Eedes.

“5 days skin contact, only 700 bottles made. Initially the nose shows apricot and typical oxidative notes but with time in the glass, a pretty floral quality begins to emerge. The palate is concentrated and thick textured, tangy acidity lending balance. It’s difficult to wrap your head around but somehow keeps drawing you back to the glass.” Christian Eedes

Thinus Kruger of Fram is the winemaker behind this pure Colombard from the Swartland. (Aspoestertjie means Cinderella in Afrikaans.) It’s typical of his style: worked, complex, leesy and very, very expressive, with wild flowers and citrus notes and a stony flourish. 93pts (Tim Atkin)

“12.5% alcohol. The label says that this ‘harks back to the times of bright, luminous wines,’ and ‘the beauty of honest and elegant wines.’ I like it a lot. Slightly nervy, natural nose of bright red apples, spices, herbs, red cherries and raspberries. The palate is pure and lovely with fresh raspberries, some spice and tangy acidity. Very fresh, pure and detailed: fully ripe but with lovely grip and finesse. There’s also a hint of sappy greenness. This is lovely on day 2, too. 93/100” Jamie Goode

“12.5% alcohol. A monumental red, all reductive and closed in on itself initially, but which opens out beautifully. It’s juicy, bright, grippy and dense with a peppery, tannic Mourvedre character and fresh black fruits. Grippy and firm with raspberry and black cherry, as well as plums and some damson bitterness. Complex and taut. 94/100” Jamie Goode

“13.5% alcohol. Mourvèdre is added for body and spice, and Viognier for freshness and to enhance the aromatic profile with its subtle floral and dried apricot aromas. The farm co-ferment the three varieties to make a seamless wine and always use second or third fill bigger French oak barrels so that there is very little oak influence on the resulting wine. Full bodied with herbaceous 'veld', spice, pepper, bright red summer fruit and plum flavours. Made to be enjoyed at release, but should only improve with age for up to 8 years. Ideal to be enjoyed on its own in winter or slightly chilled on summer evenings”

650 bottles made, 25 months maturation in old French and Hungarian Oak. The wine combines rich red fruits and peppery high notes with earthy undertones to create a funky but finessed natural wine.

    Fist of Fancy

“14% alcohol, it recalls Beaujolias or Côte de Beaune in how perfumed and fruity it is. On the nose, red and black berries plus a light and rather pretty herbal note. It has an abv of 14% so it’s not short of stuffing but there’s also really zippy acidity and just the right amount of tannic grip on the finish. Serve straight from the fridge for something ridiculously drinkable and unpretentious.” Christian Eedes

The nose shows red cherry, wild strawberry and an attractive stalky character. Light bodied with pure fruit, bright acidity and a gently savoury finish. Super-tasty.

Onion skin in colour. Raspberry plus a little spice and earthiness on the nose. A sophisticated palate - good fruit definition, bright acidity and a delicate bubble before a very dry finish. A particularly elegant pink bubbly
